Wouldn’t YOU Love the BEST Longarm Ruler, ever!!!?

YUP! I’ve joined the ranks of the ruler makers! I HAD to out of necessity. What is that line? “Necessity is the mother of invention”? I created two new rulers as I needed something to fit in the palm of my hand for ruler work. Last year I worked on a fabulous quilt that had at least 5,000 flying geese. OK, maybe not that many, but that’s what it felt like when I was done. Here is a small bit of that quilt. It’s going in a book, so I can only show this very tiny part for now.
As I worked all the triangles, lines and ditches, my hand tired and I was frustrated by the ruler corner, catching, as I twisted and turned over the massive top. I kept thinking there had to be a better way! Well, here is a better way! The small ruler fits perfectly in the palm of my hand and the longer one is thin and easier for me to manipulate.
The slim ruler measures 9″ x 1 1/2″. The palm ruler is 5″ x 2 1/2″. They both are made of 1/4″ acrylic and have 1″ registration marks for simple measurements. This gives you an idea of how it fits to my hand. The curved ends let it slide freely over any piecing with no ruler corners getting caught in seams and fabrics.
I love these rulers for dense and tiny quilting.
How sweet is this hotpad? It was an orphaned block I found at my guilds’ share pile a few months ago. I find some of the greatest cast offs and UFO’s!
Finished! NOW, the best part of this whole story, is that I found this box full of rulers at my doorstep this afternoon. Guess what? They are available for purchase!
Click on the tab at the top that says “Quilting Rulers” and it will take you to the “BUY IT” buttons. They are $20 each, or you can get both for $30. This price INCLUDES shipping and handling. You can also watch my quick YouTube video to see how I use them.
I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do! PS….they are also terrific with your domestic or sit down machines! See this demo if you are a sitting quilter!

What a tremendous amount of work goes into quilting one of the larger quilts. You do it so beautifully. Book? It will be an instant hit I am sure.

Thanks Freda! Large quilts are definitely a labor of love! Book, probably not. I’ve watched many of my quilt friends go through the process. So much time and devotion. I’m not that patient 😉

Kelly, you are so brilliant! So much fun to drool over your beautiful quilting (I’m not a machine quilter…darn) but I can still enjoy your genius designs and your rulers and all the other contributors to your site. Thank you.

Your quilting is very impressive! What brand & weight thread was used in pictures? Is that your favorite? What IS your favorite? Please supply your contact info & chart of charges when I hire you once I’ve completed a quilt-top?

Kelly! I LOVE these new rulers!! I haven’t used my palm ruler yet, but just finished a piano key border on a crib quilt with NO markings, the long skinny ((9×1’5) ruler is the perfect size to whip out these keys in record time. I’ll let you know about the other one soon, but this one is a hit!!!

Kelly, this looks awesome. I am new to the longarm quilting. Just got a second hand tin Lizzie on a frame. I don’t have an attachment/extending table, so I’m wondering if I could still use your rulers? My machine has a bigger base than other longarms though. Thank you!

I forget to use my base with especially the Palm ruler, due to its small size. The Slim ruler is so thin, that it also glides on my regular stitch base. So they may be fine without a base. I really only use my base when I am working with larger rulers, circles and arcs.
