About Me
HI, I’m Kelly, the redhead in the middle of this fantastic family, living in the beautiful town of Lawrence, KS! I love all things family, friends and fabric, but especially anything that can be quilted on a long arm. I am also a Handi Quilter Ambassador. I love to teach on the longarm and travel to fun places. I am also the creator of a fabulous set of rulers, for use on either a long arm or domestic machine. Browse my website and visit my daily posts on Facebook, Kelly Cline Quilting. Questions or comments? Drop me an email at headredkc at gmail dot com. I am also an Amazon affiliate, so I do make a few cents when you click on my page. You will find all the products I love and talk about there. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!

I love what you do with the Society Silk pieces. I am inspired by your work to try this with my own hand embroidery. I’m a new follower after seeing you on Mary Corbet’s blog.

I just found and just love your work. I have a longarm and a vintage linen tablecloth that I am terrified to start. Lots of cut work, lots of fullness in the middle. I have been quilting for aprox 15 years. I live in Canada, actually the most easterly part of North America. I am so happy to have found you.

Thanks for the sweet comments and glad you found my website! Don’t be scared! You’ve been quilting a long time so I have no fear you can tackle it. I have been longarmming 2 1/2 years, so no worries for you! Treat it like you would a regular quilt. I usually try to start in the middle and work out with older pieces like that. Then outline around all the cutwork and embroidery, like applique! Really, once you start it will be a piece of cake. Are you on Facebook? I just started a site called Quilting Vintage! last week. Already 300 members with lots of support and photos of others vintage work. So far it’s proving to be a fabulous meeting of like minds! Hope you’ll keep in touch and let me know how you come along on your tablecloth.

Hi Kelly, love your vintage linens work and I do have all your rulers…use Them the most of any. I have been looking at your tutorial about the treatment with the crocheted edge and as I understand it you are left with an unfinished edge on the back? I found a beautiful 48″ runner with a scalloped edge and want to try quilting the center but I can’ not think of any way that the back will look “finished”. Am I understanding your method correctly and how do you feel about how the back will look? Thanks for your reading all this.

P.S. My runner has a tightly crocheted edge also. Forgot to mention that.

Hi Ann-Marie, you are welcome to send a picture to my email, [email protected]. I’ll take a look and see what your edge looks like and can give you a better answer!

Hi Kelly. You do amazing work. I’m very inspired. I’m curious about the type of fabric you use as backing. I’m doing a small square cut work tablecloth with satin, but I’m unsure of the backing fabric. Any suggestions?
Kelly

Thanks Kathy, anything really! Cotton is usually my choice and often times I use and old tablecloth FOR the backing!

Kelly,
I too found you through Mary Corbet’s Needle n’ Thread.
I haven’t looked at your other work yet, but these Society Silk pieces are remarkable. Truly, they’re unbelievable.
I can’t imagine how you got around KANSAS….so glad you left it the way it was.
Have you considered doing a show of your Society Silk work? Perhaps develop a program as a guest speaker explaining the significance of these pieces and your work as a conservation artist? I just made that up, but I think it describes what you’re doing with these beautiful embroideries, giving value to something that no one would ordinarily have the opportunity to see. A public library would be a good venue for a presentation.
Forgive me for gushing. When I see something this special I just want to tell the world about it.
You’re very gifted Kelly. You’ve created new art by presenting the gifts of others in a new light.

Hi Linda and thanks for gushing 😉 I actually am hoping one day to have enough pieces to do a trunk show and presentation. Thanks for thinking this would be interesting. I never know if it’s just me that loves these or if others would too. Your kind words are appreciated!

Hi Kelly, I too found out about the marvels you produce through Mary Corbet’s, and I am already following you on Fb. Could you, please, suggest a book or online tutorial to, maybe, learn a bit about long-arm quilting? Thank you so much.

Hi Alicia, thanks! When I first started, I watched a bunch of YouTube videos. I especially like Sharon Schamber, Angela Walters, and right now I’m hooked on Whirlsnswirls quilting. She is doing 100 designs in 100 days. They are short videos, maybe 2-3 minutes. I try to watch at least one every morning! Good luck!

Kelly, I checked my PayPal account and checked on my order, the rulers had been mailed to me the day I ordered them, thank you. Hallo Kelly. I’ve just found you via Facebook group Free Motion Quilting Frenzy and spent 2 /or more/lovely morning hours reading your blog with all these fantastic ideas about linens and other things. Now I know what can I do with some rihelieu linens I inherited from my mom. I don’t have a longarm and quilting on a domestic machine but I think it will work too. Thank you for inspiration! Have a great day.:-) Beata from Poland, Europe.

In some of your videos you use a ruler that fits around the machine foot. Can I purchase one? I don’t see it with your other rulers.

A long time ago you posted a quilt you made and I believe it was called flower dancer. I thought I saved a picture of that quilt but I can’t find it. Can you send me a picture of that quilt. It was so beautiful. I sent you an email asking if I could order one but I think you had made it for somebody.

I think I sent you some Hobbs labels from rolls of batting in order to acquire some batting for free for charity. If you are and you are still collecting them, I have 15 saved. I’m going to be using Quilters Dream from now on so if you want them, please send me an email with your address and I’ll put them in the mail. Thanks, Kathy
