I really love your work. How did you get started in long-arm quilting? and what type of machine do you have? I want to begin, but don’t know where to even start…
Hi Sandy, thanks! I got started by accident! Kinda of a long story, but I met a woman who was selling her longarm. I had never seen one! I was intrigued and went to her home to see the machine. I have been a calligrapher most of my life and when I got on the handles and moved the machine, it was a continuation of my handwriting. I fell in love instantly! I didn’t buy her machine, but researched and tried every machine I could. I ended up at a large quilt show and then “drove” each longarm. I decided on the Handi Quilter and love my machine. I would suggest trying machines at a large show, research, ask questions. Like a car, they have different options, prices, features and each drives a bit different than another.
Hi Kelly, I love the look of your rulers. Do you need a special foot on the machine to use them? Will they work with ordinary domestic machines?
Many thanks
They will work with a longarm foot, using a ruler base at all times. On a domestic, you should have a special “quilting ruler foot” attached. I use a regular quilting foot, but you are wanting the extra thickness so you don’t “hop” up on the ruler and break a needle. I, am a rebel, so haven’t added the ruler foot. So far, so good, but I probably wouldn’t suggest it!
Kelly……….Your presentation in Sarasota, Fl was so exciting!! I learned so much and loved seeing all of your projects. You truly are so inspiring!! Thank you for spreading the love of quilting through vintage pieces!!
WOW your work is awesome. I came onto your site to see the rulers you told me about on Leah Day group but did not expect to see this…….You are a natural for sure. I will be sure to join in your blog.
Any problem with your rulers with innova longarm machine? They usually require 3/8 inch rulers to prevent the hopping foot from jumping up on top of the ruler??? Thanks

How much would it cost to have the 2 rulers sent to Ontario, Canada? Couldn’t find anywhere under rulers to ask this question. Thanks

Not too much more to send to Canada, so go ahead and order and I’ll absorb the cost. Thanks for asking!
