Quilting Vintage Exhibit at the Missouri Quilt Museum

If you’re headed to Hamilton, Missouri, in the spring or summer, don’t miss the exhibit I have there called, “Quilting Vintage with Kelly Cline and FRIENDS”. I am so excited to share some of my favorite quilts AND a nice selection from friends who work in the vintage fabric world! The exhibit is showing now until July 27. I’ll pop a few pictures below to entice you.

You’ll find the museum just a block east of the main shops downtown

Click on their website, Missouri Quilt Museum, to learn more about the museum, the exhibits, hours and admission fees. It’s really worth a visit and currently is showing 5 exhibits, plus their very cool, miniature sewing machine room.

Check in at the front desk, then enjoy 3 floors of exhibits

You’ll enter on the south side of the building in the middle, then up the stairs. (they have also recently installed an elevator!) This was the old high school building. If I remember right it was built in 1903. The Redford family of Hamilton, has lovingly restored the building over the last years. It’s an ongoing project and passion for them! You’ll have 3 floors of exhibits to enjoy and there’s always a friendly face to great you. Don’t miss the gift shop to your left. I find something every time I visit!

My husband was fascinated by the postage stamp quilt!

The museum is a 501cC, not for profit entity, so all donations go directly to the museum. It is managed and run by a complete group of volunteers. They are amazing!

Main gallery with the Quilting Vintage exhibit

The main gallery is downstairs and you’ll find it full of vintage quilts and re-purposed linens. Many of us work with vintage textiles to create modern and new works of art. You’ll be inspired by quilt artists from around the country and hopefully get ideas for your own work!

Quilted Vintage Pillow Covers from my collection

I included some of the vintage pillow covers I have quilted over the last 10+ years. Everything looks so great against black!

A bug’s view!

There is a story at each quilt about the maker and what inspired them or how they created their quilt. I’ve enjoyed reading about my friends art pieces. I hope you’ll enjoy the stories!

BEAUTIFUL!

If you live in the area or want a day trip, I’ll be speaking on March 16 at 2pm, with a meet and greet from noon until 2pm. A few of my friends will be joining me who have quilts in the exhibit. I’m excited to see them, plus meet new friends!

I hope to see some of you there!!

Kelly
